Kasol is a small village on the Parvati river that has become the default long-weekend escape for groups from Delhi and Chandigarh. Cafes line the river, the trails start from the road itself, and the whole valley runs on a slow, unbothered rhythm.
A 12 km round trip from Barshaini, usually done as an overnight with a camp stay at the top and hot springs at the end of the climb. It is a moderate trek, not a technical one, and a mixed-fitness group can manage it comfortably if you start early and do not rush the ascent.
Tosh and Malana each take half a day. Tosh has the better views and easier stays; Malana has its own customs about what visitors may and may not touch, and those are worth respecting rather than testing. Chalal is a twenty-minute walk across the river from Kasol and is where groups end up for a quiet evening.
Weekend room rates in Kasol roughly double, so book before Friday if the group is arriving from Delhi. The valley sees flash floods in peak monsoon and treks get suspended, so July and August plans need a backup. Mobile network is patchy past Barshaini.
